*Life is in the journey!* ~ Raise Your Voice

Life's Inspirational Valiant Endeavors
Raise
Your
Voice

When our kids were little our family watched the movie, “Pay It Forward”, based on author, Catherine Ryan Hyde's best selling novel. Our oldest son Will, who was twelve years old at the time, asked afterward “Is that really possible, Mom?” I remember, distinctly, the feeling of my heart dropping in my chest. His faith in the goodness of the world was slipping at an alarming rate into adulthood, but more importantly, the belief that we ~ humanity ~ are capable of greatness... of magic really, was beginning to fade.

I told my son then,
“Anything is possible.
Especially changing the world.
If you believe in something
and work for it with integrity and love in your heart
 Anything is Absolutely Possible!
It starts with you.”

I drew then, my own basic sketch of a person on a chalkboard in our kitchen with three people connected to that person, and three people connected to each of those three people, and so on, and so on, to remind our kids and us every time we saw it, of one simple idea:

What you believe has the power to change you.
What you do about it has the power to change the world.

Empathy ~ Inspiration ~ Courage ~ Action

The question is...
Will you act on your convictions with Empathy,
seek your own personal truth when struck with Inspiration,
stand up and be counted with Courage,
and define your own humanity with Action?

Peace My Friends!

  1. What a Perfect way to start a Monday morning:)
Thanks for reminding us of the simple things we can do to change the life of another!

    1. I couldn't agree more, Mark. When I sat down yesterday to write this post, I struggled with the writing of a particularly tough topic that's been on my mind. *This* came out instead.

I can't solve all of the world's issues with writing alone, but I want more than anything to Do Something. I decided what better place to start than here.

  2. I sort of love doing those little unexpected things for other people. Pay it forward or whatever you call it, it makes me and them happy.

    1. It does begin with the little things, Johanna.

My son, Will, is 18 now, and the one *coming to me* with the passion in his heart to fight for change and the confidence to actually make a difference. So proud.

  3. That was a good movie. I think what makes life special is the little things and it's those kind little touches that make our days.

  4. You are so right on, lady! I loved reading your post and knowing that I’m not the only one who believes this stuff! Anything is indeed possible. Everything that human beings have created in the world started with an idea. Add belief to an idea and you get physical reality. We “pay it forward” every day, both in positive and negative ways, and I believe it is in our power to choose which we’ll send back out in the world. Why not choose positive?

Would so love to jibber-jabber with you about all these ideas/thoughts/beliefs! I’m always looking for ways to take over the world with love. Hah!

As to the video, awesome! It was entertaining and informative. Don’t you love how science is catching up with spirituality? We’ve always known that we’re connected and that we feel what other’s feel, but now science is “proving” it.

And how lovely it would be if we could just freely be what is in our hearts and choose to be an Empathic Civilization. As you say, it all begins with you. Thanks for the lift, Scarlett xo

    1. Jibber-jabber away, Intricate Knot! I'm a talker you know. *g*

You are so right. We do "pay if forward" with every interaction, whether with fear or love.

I remind myself often, that it is my choice, and no others, how I interact with the world around me. Holding a mirror up to ourselves is hard for a reason. If what we see there is disappointing or scary, perhaps it's time to make a change. And, we are ALL capable of change.

I love that whole series of videos! Particularly the one on America's educational system. Yeah, science is cool! Especially when it can help us to understand that, though we are somewhat predictable beings, we are also complicated beyond measure and ripe with possibility.

It reminds me of a quote:

"There are more things in heaven and earth, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." ~ Shakespeare

Empathy ~ born out of love, is perhaps our greatest gift we can give of ourselves to our fellow sojourners.

Greed ~ born out fear, breeds more fear, and is most assuredly our greatest failing.

      I choose love. xo

    2. Yes, we are all capable, but sadly fearful, of change. I have to remind myself all the time, too, that I am always at choice.

Will definitely have to check out more of those videos. It's always good to reinforce the positive in our lives and I especially feel the importance of that for me right now.

Ahh, Scarlett...I just love Shakespeare...and that line is one of my favs.

Hope it's a lovely star-filled and peaceful night for you. xo
